NMV en AMI versterken samenwerking

Actueel / Overig nieuws

The Nederlandse Montessori Vereniging (NMV) and the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) are strengthening their collaboration.

The Nederlandse Montessori Vereniging (NMV) was founded in 1917 and has played a sustained and influential role in the development of Montessori education within the Dutch public education system. NMV supports schools, educators, and school leaders and safeguards Montessori quality in a context where Montessori education operates at scale within national accountability structures.

NMV’s role and mandate are exercised within the Dutch public education system, including applicable laws, inspectorate frameworks, and national accountability structures.

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded in 1929 by Maria Montessori to safeguard the integrity of her work and to ensure its faithful continuation internationally. AMI provides global stewardship through training standards, accreditation frameworks, advocacy, publishing from and curating the original legacy, and international network development.

Over the past two years, NMV and AMI have engaged in structured dialogue to explore closer cooperation. Both NMV and AMI recognise the strategic importance of alignment between national implementation and international stewardship.

The signed Memorandum of Understanding formalises that collaboration in a focused, non-binding framework with the following objectives:

• Formalise strategic collaboration.

• Positioning of the AMI-diploma in the Dutch context.

• Strengthening adolescent Montessori (12-18).

• Quality assurance dialogue.

• Research and evidence agenda.

• Joint convening and communications.

The boards of both associations signed the Memorandum of Understanding on 19 September 2026 in Dr. Maria Montessori’s original study at Koninginneweg 161, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
